9rules Site submissions: Closed
So I wake up this morning, and I read yet another opinion about 9rules. Have a look yourself if you’re interested. Let’s go:
Over a month ago, it was suggested we email one of the 9rulers - which hasn’t, honestly, worked. At all. There have since been no new additions, no new voices. Nothing.
And time continues to pass - please, 9rules.. just stop. Stop making promises you no longer have a desire to keep and just stop the bullshit.
If the doors are now closed, step up to the plate and say so. If you want to introduce a new way of adding sites, then commit to it. Don’t make excuses for a lack of action or interest and for the love of god, at least have the decency to keep people informed.
We know as much about the status of submitted sites now, as we did last October. That’s six months of little more than excuse after excuse, interspersed with promises that had no real hope of being kept.
If something is important, one makes the time it needs or deserves. If one isn’t making time, then obviously the matter simply cannot have any importance. We no longer matter. That is the message 9rules is sending.
My audience is going to be pissed beyond belief but I please ask that you don’t go and rip Brendan apart because Brendan is trying to become part of a community but does not keep up with what is going on in it. If Brendan did, he would know that we opened submissions in October and in November I almost died. Literally. While in great pain (mentally and physically) Scrivs, Mike and I went through submissions, during the holidays. That wasn’t enough.
After going through that one usually takes a break. Scrivs, Mike and I finished submission during the Christmas holidays and jumped into Ali, released weeks later (they REALLY pushed themselves). And as I said multiple times I’ve been going through sites but they changed, were down, lost their data, etc. So I made an entry saying to email me again but I need to do something. The guys told me not to (I swear I’m listening to your guys from now on) but dumb ass me did it anyway. We received 1100 submissions Round 5, guess how many emails I have? Multiply that times 2.
Keeping my word, I’ve been going through them, interacting with people and you know what? I like that. I like actually getting to know the people behind the blogs. Interacting with them, getting their thoughts on 9rules, their blog - things are coming out that never would have come out if Mike, Scrivs and I spent 5-10 minutes on the site with no contact. Have I officially accepted any sites yet? No because as a team we make that decision together - it’s our company. Right now Scrivs and Mike are coding the next feature push as per the request of members/readers. Long list of stuff - can’t ignore that you know. Meanwhile, daily, I’m going through sites and wow, I have a range between some sweet people and some bold-faced liars. I wouldn’t have known these things if I didn’t take the time to interact with these people.
Yes, that is where the irony is because Brendan said: If something is important, one makes the time it needs or deserves. If one isn’t making time, then obviously the matter simply cannot have any importance. We no longer matter. That is the message 9rules is sending.
That’s exactly what I am doing Brendan, just not on your time table. I learned the hard way that if I push myself like I did in December it’s not appreciated but more importantly the more we rush the more likely we are to make mistakes. Members/readers want more “quality” members and there is absolutely no way to do that spending 5 to 10 minutes on a site. Heck, when people apply for a job they get an interview. Those wanting to join our community should be participating in it.
And that’s why I cannot stress enough to stay true to your goals and believe in the choices you make. Scrivs, Mike and I listen to suggestions but we will NOT rush the member selection process but I did close submissions so the list will not get longer.
Haha, wait until the guys wake up and find out new submissions are closed….
