Yahoo purchased VoIP provider Dialpad Communications. The cost of the acquisition has not been released. Dialpad offers VoIP services to over 200 countries. This will enable Yahoo to develop new VoIP services. Dialpad will continue to accept new subscriptions for prepaid and monthly services but ceased its calling card service on June 13.

Skype is offering two new features (currently in beta), SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail.
SkypeIn makes the service similar to Vonage in that the user receives their own phone number. SkypeIn comes with a free voicemail account and the user can get up to 10 SkypeIn numbers total from United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, France, [...]
