Tyme for a change

Please update your bookmarks to BlogTyme and your RSS feed to this.

What prompted this change? One word…Google. It takes forever for a new site to get listed. I’ve seen other sites that might not have page rank but they are listed. This one, the googlebot visits and the listing never makes it.

There is a more important reason why I decided to make the change. When I first started this blog the term “blog your way” was not saturated. Since then, bloggers have been fired, business blogs are booming and the term “blog your way” gets lost in the shuffle.  If that wasn’t bad enough Google is querky. Let’s take an example, look at this. It’s a search for Steven Rubel. As you can see, Steven Rubel’s site is not the first to come up. It makes no sense to me why Scott Johnson’s blog would come up first. The blogger’s site should come up first, then list all references to it.

So if a simple name search returns results like that, think of what the term “blog your way” would turn up. Everything under the sun except this site. So I decided to make the switch now and get it over with so I can do what I want to do to.

Now I have to admit that I think it’s rather messed up that I have to change my behavior to suit the needs of a search engine. When that happens I think we’ve given the search engine too much power. When the nofollow tag was implemented we had to accept that but do you see this radical change in posting behavior that people tried to impress upon us? Google is turning up everywhere but I am beginning to feel that they need to focus on improving what they have instead of spreading out as much as they are.

So that’s it in a nutshell. Come join me at BlogTyme.

I think this is because my chosen name is Steve. Note this result.

I think you made the right decision about changing sites. I didn’t realize how saturated blog your way is until I did a search on Technorati.
