Why are you still using Outlook Express?

John C. Dvorak recommends killing Outlook Express. When I saw his post in my RSS aggregator I had to laugh. I stopped using Outlook Express years ago. He is either going to Thunderbird or Eudora. John? Skip Eudora and go straight to Thunderbird. Or explore PocoMail/Barca, which is what I use.

When I tested Thunderbird earlier this year filters were broken. I have no idea if they’ve fixed it and one of these days I am going to test it out again. That was the only real issue I had with Thunderbird. I have to admit though that’s not the real reason I’m interested in Thunderbird…it’s the RSS integration. Since Poco Systems doesn’t think RSS integration is a priority, my loyalty level dropped – severely, especially since a free product (Thunderbird) has basic RSS integration.

Of course one can see how much enthusiasm Microsoft has about Outlook Express. Look at the Outlook Express web site.

Anyway, if you use Outlook Express, read John’s article and see why you need to broaden your horizons.
