If you have an RSS feed:

  1. If you use HTML tags, make sure you close them properly. Otherwise, depending on the RSS reader the person is using, if the tag is not closed, then all the feeds in the reader will, for example, show up emphasized.
  2. If you have your feed hosted elsewhere, make sure you have a link to an alternative feed. One would be surprised how often a hosted feed will show up as dead when the site is live and if it happens enough, without an alternative feed resource, many bloggers will delete the feed. What’s the purpose of having a feed if your readers can’t access it?
  3. Make sure the links show up in your feeds. I am surprised at the amount of feeds that strip the links and I find them by accident.
