Xbox 360 - backward compatible?
Question: Will the Xbox 360 play games made for the first Xbox?
Answer: It hasn’t been determined yet.
For the Xbox 360, Microsoft went with different suppliers, ATI for the graphics chip and IBM for the central processing unit.
“We completely changed the processor and the GPU,” explained Chris Satchell, general manager of Microsoft’s XNA game development platform. “You can imagine that can cause some challenges.”
The good news? Peter Moore, Xbox corporate vice president said they will have an answer to the backward compatibility issue by Monday, the day of its briefing at the E3 game conference.
